This drawing, called All Astir, was created using seawater and ink. It depicts a single killer whale diving and dissolving into the ocean. The seawater incorporates microscopic plants, organisms, plankton and salt into the drawing itself — turning it into a record of the ecosystem of whales. This process also created the natural swirling eddies and pattern behind the orca, connecting it with its environment.
